THE MULREADY CONNECTION - LETTERS

This
is one of a large number of intimate letters from William Mulready to his
ward, Mary Mulready Stone (née Leckie).
Many of these letters were kept by Mary and passed down the family
through Mary’s son, Edward Mulready Stone. This
letter was sent to Mary on an occasion when William Mulready was travelling
to the coast, and describes his journey.
Several passages in the letter leave one thinking that much is unsaid,
and the passage where Mulready refers to the use of discretion if reading the
letter to Mary’s mother is intriguing. |
